NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – A man was struck and killed by a subway train after falling onto the subway tracks at the 34th Street–Herald Square station in Midtown on Wednesday, police said.
The man, believed to be in his 40s, lost his footing and was hit by a southbound D train shortly before 12:45 p.m., according to cops.
He was rushed to NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue but ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
No criminality is suspected as the investigation continues, police said.
Southbound B and D lines were severely disrupted, according to the MTA.
The incident comes less than two weeks after an 18-year-old woman fell onto the tracks at a subway station in Jackson Heights and was fatally struck by a train. Police said she suffered a medical episode and called her death a tragic accident.
A day after that, a woman was shoved onto the tracks at a station in Midtown, leaving her in critical condition. A 39-year-old suspect was arrested in Newark a couple days later.
