NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A man was taken into custody after he allegedly carjacked a yellow cab at knifepoint in Midtown early Monday morning, the NYPD said.
According to officials, at about 3:15 a.m. the man approached the 55-year-old taxi driver who was on West 30th Street between Sixth and Seventh avenues, pulled out a knife and demanded that he get out of his car.
The driver complied and the suspect drove off in the cab, cops said.
Officers tracked the taxi down at West 46th Street and Seventh Avenue and were able to take the man into custody.
His charges were pending and his identity was not immediately released by police.
There were no injuries reported during the incident.
An investigation is ongoing.
