According to police, the first shooting happened around 9:14 p.m. in front of 818 Home St. in Morrisania.
Shawn Pressley, 28, was shot in the back of the head and taken to NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln, where he was pronounced dead.
WABC-7 reports that Pressley was sitting on a blue scooter when the gunman walked up to him and shot him.
Sources told 1010 WINS that Pressley was arrested for attempted murder on July 5 and had other prior arrests. Whether the shooting was gang-related or if the attempted murder charge was connected is currently unknown.
Just over two hours later, police said a 12-year-old girl and a 16-year-old boy were shot less than 10 minutes away — near the Stebbins Playground in Longwood around 11:30 p.m.
The victims were approached by a dark-colored sedan. The suspect in the car allegedly yelled at them before opening fire, according to the police.
The 12-year-old suffered a graze wound to the left side of her torso and was shot in the left arm, while the 16-year-old was grazed in the chin.
Both were taken to Harlem Hospital in stable condition.
No arrests have been made at this time. The investigations are ongoing.
