Man killed, another critical in Brooklyn shooting

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- One person was killed and another was critically injured during a shooting incident that occurred in Brooklyn early Thursday, according to officials.

At around 5:30 a.m., a 29-year-old man was shot on Lewis Avenue near Myrtle Avenue in the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood, police said.

The victim was taken to Woodhull Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

A 31-year-old man was also shot in the neck during the same incident.

He was rushed to Bellevue Hospital, where he is listed in critical condition.

Authorities are investigating whether the men were involved in a shootout and struck each other, authorities said.

A separate shooting incident occurred at approximately 1:30 a.m. when a 19-year-old woman was walking on Avenue V near Coyle Street in the Sheepshead Bay neighborhood when she was shot in the right leg, officials said.

The victim said she heard shots and then felt pain.

She was transported to Mount Sinai Hospital by private means.

An investigation remains ongoing in both shooting incidents.
