Man murders estranged wife, then stabs himself at Long Island home: cops

FARMINGVILLE, N.Y. (1010 WINS) -- A man allegedly stabbed his estranged wife to death and then stabbed and wounded himself at their home in Suffolk County on Thursday night.

Marcos Marques-Leal, 57, faces charges of second-degree murder, criminal contempt and endangering the welfare of a child in connection with the stabbing on Granny Road in Farmingville.

Suffolk County police got a call around 8:15 p.m. of a domestic incident at the family’s home. When officers arrived, they found Adriana Barbosa, 46, had been stabbed.

She was rushed to Stony Brook University Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

A teenage relative, who was in the home at the time, suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the attack and was hospitalized, police said.

Marques-Leal stabbed himself and suffered serious injuries, according to police. He was also transported to Stony Brook University Hospital.
