
NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The NYPD’s Hate Crimes Task Force launched an investigation after a man punched an Asian woman was punched in her face then screamed “go back to your country” during an unprovoked attack in Manhattan on Sunday afternoon.
According to police, at approximately 1:30 p.m., the 52-year-old woman was walking with two children near the intersection of First Avenue and East 18th Street in Stuyvesant Town when the suspect randomly attacked her.
The suspect punched the woman and yelled "get out of here, go back to your country," police sources told 1010 WINS.
The victim was treated by EMS on the scene.
The suspect, believed to be in his 50s, fled on foot and remains in the wind.
An investigation remains ongoing.
