NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A 13-year-old boy was punched in the face and robbed by a man in an elevator at his Bronx apartment building, police said Saturday as they released surveillance images of a suspect.

Police said a man followed the boy onto the elevator in a building near East 166th Street and Forest Avenue at the Forest Houses in the Morrisania section on the afternoon of May 28.

Once inside the elevator, the man demanded the boy's money, police said.

When the boy told the man he didn't have any money, the man punched him in the face, according to police.

The man rummaged through the boy's pockets and stole his iPhone, along with his coat, before fleeing, police said.

The boy suffered a bruised lip but refused medical attention.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
