Man punches woman down stairs, tries to remove her leggings at City Hall subway station

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A man punched a woman down a staircase and tried to remove her leggings at a lower Manhattan subway station on Thursday night, police said.

The 43-year-old woman was walking down a staircase to the 4, 5 and 6 trains at the Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall station, near Lafayette and Reade streets, around 9 p.m. when a man in his 30s came up and punched her, according to police.

The woman fell to the base of the stairs, where the man attempted to remove her leggings, police said.

Passersby intervened and the suspect took off, according to police.

The woman suffered bruising and was taken to Bellevue Hospital.

No arrests had been reported as of Friday morning.
