NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Police released photos on Monday of a knife-wielding man seen ripping down West Village gay nightclub's Pride signs earlier this month.
At about 5:10 a.m. on Monday, June 16, the suspect approached The Monster located at 80 Grove St., and displayed a knife in front of a 36-year-old employee, causing him to fear for his safety.
The suspect then removed several LGBTQIA+ pride signs that were displayed in front of the location and threw them to the ground.
He then fled on foot traveling eastbound on West 4th Street to parts unknown.
There were no injuries reported an the NYPD is investigating the incident as a hate crime.
