NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- One person was killed and 10 others injured in a fire at a Bronx apartment building on Wednesday, the FDNY said, and authorities are investigating whether a man sparked the blaze.
The inferno erupted at a six-story apartment building at 1484 Montgomery Ave. in Morris Heights around 7:45 a.m.
Ring doorbell footage provided by a resident showed a man in the hallway holding a flaming object before the fire broke out.
Several residents identified him as someone who lived in the building.

“I’m above the guy who set the fire,” one woman said. “I woke up to him screaming. He threw himself out the window. I ran to my kids' room. When I opened the door, I saw all the smoke. My kids were screaming so I told them to get out.”

According to the FDNY, one person was killed and 10 more were injured, including six civilians and four firefighters. The person who died was a resident of the building, officials said.
At least two residents also said their pets were killed in the fire.
