NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A man was shot to death while sitting in a car in the Bronx on New Year’s Day, in what police believe to be the first homicide of 2026 in New York City.

The 55-year-old victim was found inside the parked vehicle near the Cross Bronx Expressway and Morris Avenue with multiple gunshot wounds to the head just before 7 a.m., police said. He died at the scene.

The identity of the victim was not released.

There have been no arrests and the investigation is ongoing.
