NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Police are investigating the shooting death of a man in the Bronx early Wednesday morning, authorities said amid reports he'd just been released from prison months ago.
At approximately 3:40 a.m., police responded to a 911 call of shots fired in front of 3836 Carpenter Ave. in Olinville.
Upon arrival, police observed an 34-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the left side of his torso.
EMS transported the victim to NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi where he was pronounced dead.
The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending family notification.
The victim had been released from prison just two months ago, according to the Daily News.
There have been no arrests made and the investigation remains ongoing.
