NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) — In an incident of domestic violence, a man shoved his girlfriend onto subway tracks in a lower Manhattan subway station on Saturday morning, and an arriving train cut off her feet, officials said.

According to the NYPD, a man got into a dispute with his girlfriend at the Fulton Street subway station at about 10:30 a.m.

As a result of the dispute, he shoved her onto the subway tracks as a southbound 3 train pulled up, police said.

Authorities said that the train amputated the woman’s feet.

The victim was transported to NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue, the FDNY said.

Subway service resumed around 1 p.m., but into the afternoon NYPD detectives were still combing through the Fulton Street subway station in the Financial District to help in their investigation.

1010 WINS/WCBS 880 spoke with William C, a Good Samaritan who aided the woman after the train struck.

William said that he has a military background, having served as a Drill Sergeant and toured in Iraq, so when he heard someone was hit, he went to the scene to "see if [there was] any place to contribute without causing a problem."

“I saw no one else there, so I just kept, I kneeled at the track, just keep talking to her to make sure she’s calm and she doesn’t breathe too fast, which then the blood will go crazy and you might shock yourself into it," William said.

When discussing the victim's reaction to the trauma, he said "She was very lucid, frantic, but for the most part lucid. She said something to the effect of, she definitely said that she does not deserve this. She held a part of her flesh to show me that she might have lost her leg."

William told 1010 WINS/WCBS 880 that she was very strong, and he hopes she doesn't lose too much of her abilities.

Police are searching for the suspect, who fled the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.
