NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A man's nose was broken in a suspected anti-Asian hate attack at a Manhattan subway station, police said as they released a new sketch of a suspect they're looking for.

The assault happened back in April, but the NYPD released the sketch late Wednesday as they continue to search for a man in the unprovoked attack.

Police said a 31-year-old man was exiting the 28th Street station at Broadway in midtown on the night of April 19 when a man turned around and punched him in the face with a closed fist.

The assailant hurled anti-Asian remarks at the victim during the attack, according to the NYPD, which said its Hate Crime Task Force is investigating.

The victim suffered a broken nose and was transported by private means to Lenox Health Greenwich Village, where he was listed in stable condition.

The NYPD believes the attacker is in his 30s. He was last seen fleeing down W. 28th Street, police said.

The attack comes amid a dramatic increase in anti-Asian hate crimes in the city. The NYPD said earlier this month that anti-Asian hate crimes were up 395% this year, with 104 incidents reported through July 4, 2021, compared to 21 incidents during the same period in 2020.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
