NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — New York state police fatally shot a man after a fiery chase in Orange County on Wednesday--and he's reportedly the suspect wanted for stabbing a Brooklyn laundromat worker earlier this week over unfinished laundry.
At approximately 12:35 p.m. on Wednesday, Ali Ali was recorded on a trail camera on Maplewood Drive in the Highland Mills area. State troopers then attempted to stop a stolen vehicle, which then crashed and caught fire at NYS Thruway milepost 49, north of Exit 16. Ali, who was driving the vehicle, ran from the scene into a wooded area, authorities said.

State police located Ali at about 2 p.m. in a densely wooded area off Trout Brook Road in Highland Mills where there was a confrontation that prompted at least one state police officer to discharge their gun, striking and killing him, officials said.
Ali was sought after he allegedly stabbed a 56-year-old worker at a laundromat located at 2061 Bath Ave. in Bath Beach on Monday afternoon.
