Suspect who spat on woman, choked, punched man on Manhattan train sought

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Police on Wednesday released surveillance footage of an unidentified man sought in connection with an assault that occurred on a subway train in Harlem last month.

Just before noon on December 12, 2020, a 59-year-old man and a 58-year-old woman were sitting on board the northbound 6 train at the 3rd Avenue/138th Street subway station, when the suspect approached the woman and spit at her, police said.


As the male victim was getting up, the suspect then grabbed him around the neck with his arm, placed him in a headlock position while punching him in the head and face, officials said.

The suspect fled to parts unknown, authorities said.

The male victim suffered minor injuries and was transported to NYC Health & Hospital/Lincoln in stable condition.

There were no other injuries reported as a result of this incident.

Police describe. the suspect as a dark-skinned adult man, approximately in his 30's, 5'10" tall, 200lbs; with an Afro.

He was last seen wearing a light-colored shirt, black bubble jacket, dark sweat pants, red sneakers, and a black winter hat.
