NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – A man who was stabbed near Tompkins Square Park in the East Village early Tuesday was later found wounded on a subway platform in Queens, police said.

The victim was walking from the park to the Delancey Street/Essex Street station around 2:15 a.m. when he was stabbed multiple times in the back by an unknown person, according to police.

He continued walking several blocks to the station, boarded an F train and rode it to the Kew Gardens–Union Turnpike station, where a passenger found him on the platform.

The passenger reported the incident, and the victim was transported to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where he was listed in stable condition.

No arrests had been reported as of Tuesday, and no description of a suspect has been released.

It's unclear what led up to the assault or if the victim even knew his attacker.
