NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A man stabbed his mother-in-law to death and wounded his teenage brother-in-law at their Queens home on Thursday before turning the knife on himself and setting a fire that injured eight police officers, according to sources and witnesses.

A domestic dispute at the home on Smart Street in Flushing spiraled out of control and led to the stabbing that left Qiujin Shi, 50, dead, and her 17-year-old son hospitalized at New York-Presbyterian in Queens, sources said.

According to police sources, a 27-year-old man repeatedly stabbed the victims around 3:30 p.m. and then slashed his own wrists and set a fire to a mattress in a rear bedroom of the home.

Guqing Zhang, a cousin who lives in the basement of the home and witnessed the argument, said the stabber had been drinking and “they were talking about the divorce” when the violence erupted.

“That’s what made him crash out and start stabbing everyone,” he added.

Eight police officers suffered smoke inhalation while responding to the fiery scene, according to authorities.

The alleged stabber was taken into custody and was also in stable condition at the hospital.
