NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Police are investigating after a man was attacked with a sharp piece of wood by a stranger inside a Manhattan train station Wednesday evening, according to authorities.
The attack happened at the 50th Street and 8th Avenue station in Hell's Kitchen around 6:20 p.m. as the 30-year-old victim was walking on the platform, officials said.
The victim passed another man who asked him, "Why the f**k are you looking at me?" according to the NYPD.
The suspect allegedly struck the victim in the back with the stick, as a northbound E train pulled into the station, authorities said.
He then fled on that northbound train, police said.
The victim suffered a laceration, officials said.
Police describe the suspect as a man in his 40s. He was wearing a light blue polo shirt and a black baseball cap.
The suspect was still at large Thursday morning and an investigation is oingoing.
