NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- A man was punched in the face in Midtown on Monday night in an unprovoked attack that police are investigating as an anti-Muslim hate crime.

The NYPD released a photo of the suspect on Tuesday as its Hate Crimes Task Force investigates.

The 25-year-old victim was on his phone at West 53rd Street and Fifth Avenue around 8:45 p.m. when he was sucker-punched by another man, police said.

The attacker was yelling anti-Muslim remarks during the assault, according to police.

EMS transported the victim to NYU Langone Health Medical Center in stable condition.
