NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Police officers tased and arrested a Massachusetts man who allegedly tried to carjack a FedEx truck after crashing into two cars on Long Island, authorities said Thursday.

Raymond Sojo, 35, of Worcester, was driving near Old Country Road and Clinton Road in Garden City around 1:20 p.m. on Wednesday when he crashed into two cars that were stopped at the intersection, Nassau County police said.

The impact pushed one of the cars into the intersection, where it collided with the rear passenger side of a FedEx truck, police said.

After the crash, Sojo jumped out of his car, got into the FedEx truck and tried to drive off by commandeering it from its 26-year-old driver using "physical force and verbal threats," the department said.

When responding officers tried to arrest Sojo and treat the injuries he sustained in the crash, Sojo refused to comply, so the officers tased him, according to police.

Sojo was treated at a nearby hospital after police took him into custody, the department said. Officers discovered a loaded Taurus G2C handgun inside his car after he was arrested, police said.

The two drivers Sojo originally crashed into were hospitalized with minor injuries, according to police.

Sojo has been charged with second-degree attempted robbery, second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, second-degree obstructing governmental administration and resisting arrest, the department said.

His attorney information wasn't immediately available Thursday.
