NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A man wielding a gallon jug attacked a deli worker during a dispute in the East Village this week, police said.

The NYPD released surveillance footage on Friday of the suspect in Monday night’s attack at East 6th Street and Avenue B.

The victim, a 68-year-old man, was working at the deli around 10 p.m. when a customer “became irate” and started arguing with him, police said.

During the argument, the customer grabbed a gallon of water and whacked the victim across the face with it, according to cops.

The victim suffered pain, redness and swelling to his face but declined medical attention at the scene.

The suspect, who was wearing pink headphones, fled on foot and was last seen headed northbound on Avenue B.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
