NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – The NYPD released photos of two suspects Sunday who are wanted in connection with a prior moped robbery and recent assault of a police officer after a cop was run over with a moped in the UWS last week.
At 2:25 p.m. Thursday an officer was trying to detain a man near Riverside Drive and West 83rd Street in connection with a previous moped robbery, officials said.
Police said that a second suspect intentionally ran into the officer from behind with a moped before fleeing north on Riverside Drive.
The man the officer was attempting to arrest ran down Riverside Drive on foot.
The injured cop was taken to a local hospital with a broken right leg and in stable condition, police said.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
