NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — The NYPD on Thursday released photos of a man they are looking to identify, wanted for for allegedly pouring a drink in a baptismal font and stealing donations in a suspected hate crime incident at a Queens church last month.
At approximately 11:45 a.m. on Saturday, March 14, the suspect entered St. Anastasia's Roman Catholic Church on 245th Street in Douglaston, police said,
Once inside, the suspect poured a drink into the baptismal font, stole an undisclosed amount of cash from a donation box, and removed a cloth from the altar before fleeing the scene on foot in an unknown direction, authorities said.
The suspect was last seen wearing a blue hat, a light-colored sweatshirt underneath a black jacket, dark pants, and dark sneakers. He was also carrying a bookbag.
The NYPD Hate Crime Task Force is investigating the incident.
