NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — The NYPD released surveillance footage Friday asking for the public's help to identify a suspect wanted for a violent assault that occurred in the East Village last month.
At approximately 7:40 a.m. on Saturday, July 18, the suspect an unidentified approached a 37-year-old man in front of 23 St. Marks Pl. and engaged him in a verbal dispute, officials said.
During the altercation, the suspect struck the victim multiple times in the head with a blunt object, leaving him with scalp and facial lacerations as well as swelling to the eye before fleeing on foot heading eastbound along St. Marks Place.
EMS transported the victim to NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue, where he was listed in stable condition.
