NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Police on Thursday released surveillance images of a man wanted in connection to a dozen locker thefts at a Brooklyn Planet Fitness gym to aid their search for the suspect.
The first incident was on Dec. 2, and the most recent on April 14, with 10 other thefts in between. The NYPD is investigating the crimes as a grand larceny pattern.
In each incident, the man entered the Planet Fitness location at 777 Broadway in Bushwick, removed cash, wallets or jackets from gymgoers lockers, and then fled the scene.
The suspect made off with amounts ranging from $80 to $1,000 cash, or in some incidents took whole wallets, authorities said.
"I don't know why they keep letting him in if he was caught the first time, second time, three strikes he should be out," Planet Fitness patron Elder Leon Gelzer told 1010 WINS. "All of the sudden he's playing a football game instead of a baseball game."
The Planet Fitness staff has posted warning signs to beware of theft and are encouraging people to use a lock.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
