NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Police released images of a suspect Thursday in a random subway attack in which a man allegedly bashed a woman on the head with a tree branch.

The 22-year-old victim was walking on a staircase at the Myrtle Avenue J/M/Z station in Bushwick last Friday evening when she was attacked.

According to police, the suspect grabbed a tree branch from a garbage can and swung it at the victim, striking her in the back of the head. He then fled the scene.

She suffered pain to her head but refused medical attention, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
