NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Mayor-elect Eric Adams has reportedly begun fundraising for his transition and inauguration.

Adams has sent an email to donors inviting them to contribute to his mayoral transition team, with those who donate in the thousands to be considered “founding members,” according to a report in the New York Post.
The city does not fund the mayor’s transition or his inaugural event. Adams must adhere to rules that bar him from accepting donations from people with businesses in front of the city.
“The Adams Transition is raising funds to cover the substantial costs associated with preparing a new government, identifying and vetting new administration officials, and holding an inauguration ceremony so that the city is ready to deliver for New Yorkers on Day 1 when Mayor-elect Adams takes office,” campaign spokesman Evan Thies told the Post.
Adams, who is set to be sworn in as the city’s 110th mayor on Jan. 1, has indicated that he will begin building his administration as soon as this month. He plans to announce his police commissioner and schools chancellor shortly after Thanksgiving, he said on Friday.
