Metro-North train hits car parked too close to tracks near Yankee Stadium

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A Metro-North train hit an unoccupied car parked too close to the tracks near Yankee Stadium on Saturday morning, according to MTA officials.

The train was headed southbound on the Stamford to Yankee Stadium-East 153rd Street line around 10:43 a.m. in Melrose when it hit the car, authorities said.

No one was injured in the crash, and all passengers were transferred to another train to reach their destination.

Service was only impacted for the passengers on board the train that hit the car, and other commuters were not hit with delays.
