Minivan driver running from police stop strikes and kills man on e-bike in upper Manhattan

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Police are searching for the driver of a minivan who, while fleeing a traffic stop, struck and killed a cyclist in upper Manhattan on Saturday night.

Just before 10:45 p.m., a man in a blue Toyota minivan was speeding down West 155th Street when, at St. Nicholas Avenue, he struck a man on an e-bike and continued driving.

An investigation by the NYPD Highway District's Collision Investigation Squad found that the motorist was running from a car stop on West 152nd Street and Broadway at the time of the collision.

EMS transported the victim to NYC Health + Hospitals/Harlem where he was pronounced dead. His identity will be released after his family is notified, police said.

There have been no arrests and the investigation is ongoing.
