NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A nonverbal boy with autism was found safe Friday on the Upper East Side—several hours after he vanished from a restaurant in Queens, police said.
The 7-year-old walked out of Dera Restaurant in Jackson Heights around 11:45 a.m., as his family was eating there, according to cops.
He was located by 3:30 p.m., shortly after police put out his image on social media and asked for tips from the public.
According to police, he was found by a woman on the Upper East Side who saw him walking into traffic on Lexington Avenue, around the East 60s, and knew something was wrong.
She called the NYPD, and officers in the area got an alert on their phones about the missing boy, eventually locating him.
1010 WINS has removed his name and image since he's been located.
