NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A 3-year-old boy survived a head-on crash in Queens that left his mother dead and his father in police custody on Sunday night, police said.
The boy's father was driving the family's Toyota Corolla when the vehicle crashed into a Toyota Camry at Park Lane South and Mayfair Road in Kew Gardens around 11 p.m.
The 22-year-old mother, who was in the backseat with her son, was killed in the crash.
The boy and his 21-year-old father were not injured, according to police, who said the dad was taken into custody on suspicion of drunk driving.
A 44-year-old man behind the wheel of the Camry suffered minor injuries, police said.
The crash is under investigation.
