NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) — A woman riding on the back of a moped in Queens fell off when the driver was shot while driving, the NYPD said.

A 52-year-old man was driving the moped near Redfern Avenue and Hassock Street in Far Rockaway at about 10:30 p.m. on Saturday when he was shot in the torso.

The woman riding behind him fell off the moped and got scraped up as she fell to the pavement, police said.

Both the man and woman were transported to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center in stable condition, officials said.

According to investigators, it appears that the driver and shooter know each other, but the motive for the shooting remains unclear.
