NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – Mayor-elect Eric Adams made another history-making announcement Monday, revealing that all five deputy mayors in his upcoming administration are women.

Two of the appointees are also the first deputy mayors of Asian descent.

The appointments include Lorraine Grillo as first deputy mayor; Anne Williams-Isom as deputy mayor for health and human services; Meera Joshi as deputy mayor for operations; Maria Torres-Springer as deputy mayor for economic workforce and development; and Sheena Wright as deputy mayor for strategic initiatives.

"Representation matters. Perspective matters," Adams said. "My administration will understand the people of the city it serves — and each of the people I am appointing today has the experience and skills to help us turn this city around the right way."

1010 WINS' Juliet Papa first reported exclusively that most, if not all, of the appointees were expected to be women.

Adams' announcement comes less than a week after he appointed Nassau County Chief of Detectives Keechant Sewell as the first female NYPD commissioner in the department's 176-year history.

The City Council will also be led by a female speaker, Council Member Adrienne Adams of Queens. And for the first time, the majority of Council members will be women.
