NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A 38-year-old man was killed after his motorcycle and another motorcycle struck a Nissan Altima, causing a fiery explosion in Queens on Sunday.
Police said the triple crash happened around 1:08 p.m. at Beach Channel Drive and Beach 45th Street in Edgemere.
According to police, the 2014 Nissan Altima was traveling northbound on Beach 45th Street, crossing the intersection of Beach Channel Drive, when two motorcycles — a 2020 Suzuki operated by 38-year-old Wade Jamar Jenkins and a 2002 Honda operated by a 33-year-old man — traveling westbound on Beach Channel Drive struck the sedan.
The impact caused one of the motorcycles to catch fire, while the other was pinned to a garden fence by the car.
Jenkins, of Virginia, was pronounced deceased at the scene, police said. The 33-year-old was transported to Jamaica Hospital in stable condition.
Cops said the Altima's driver remained at the scene.
An investigation is ongoing by the NYPD Highway Collision Investigation Squad.
