NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – An MTA bus driver struck and killed a bicyclist in the South Bronx on Tuesday night, police said.

The victim, a 57-year-old man, was bicycling at East 149th Street and Brook Avenue in the Melrose section around 10:30 p.m. when the bus struck him, according to police.

The 35-year-old bus operator was making a left turn onto Brook Avenue at the time of the collision, police said.

The victim was sent under the bus and suffered life-threatening injuries. He was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Reports indicate he may have been a delivery worker. He hasn't been identified as his family is notified.

The driver remained at the scene and has not been charged, according to police, who said no criminality is suspected.
