NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A bus operator struck and killed a man as he crossed a street on Manhattan’s East Side on Monday morning, police said.

The MTA bus operator was traveling northbound on Third Avenue in Kips Bay around 5:30 a.m. when he struck the man, who was crossing at East 28th Street.

It wasn't immediately clear if the victim had the walk sign or if he was on the crosswalk.

He was transported to NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue, where he was pronounced dead. He has not yet been identified.

The MTA bus operator stayed at the scene.

No arrests have been reported.
