NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- An MTA conductor was hospitalized after he was randomly attacked on a subway train in Queens early Thursday morning, police said.

The 37-year-old transit worker was aboard an A train at the Beach 25th Street station in Far Rockaway at 1:30 a.m. when someone punched him in the face.

The blow was so intense it caused him to strike his head on the cabin wall of the train car, police said.

He was transported to St. John's Hospital, where he was in stable condition.

Police said the attack appeared to be entirely random.

The suspect fled the scene, and no arrests had been reported as of Thursday.
