2 MTA workers help save person who fell into subway tracks

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Two MTA workers are being hailed as heroes for saving a person who fell into the subway tracks last month in Brooklyn.

Electronic maintenance division maintainers Scott Blundo and Brian Walter were alerted that someone fell onto the tracks while the two were performing routine inspections on Jan. 30.

Blundo and Walter quickly took action by flagging down an approaching train and turning off power to the third rail until the person was rescued.

The person who fell was eventually safely recovered from the tracks.

The MTA is crediting the smooth rescue to Blundo and Walter who initiated the train stop and shut off of the third rail.
