NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A 38-year-old MTA worker is dead after she was hit by a car while crossing a Queens street on Friday night, police said.

The woman, Karina Larino, was crossing 21st Street and Astoria Park South around 10:15 p.m. when she was hit by a Honda Element driven by a 73-year-old woman, authorities said.

The driver was turning onto 21st Street when she struck Larino who was allegedly walking outside of the crosswalk, cops said.

Responding officers found Larino in the street with trauma to her head and body. She was taken to Elmhurst Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Larino worked for the MTA as a cleaner for 15 years and was also the mother of a 20-year-old, the Daily News reported.

The driver of the vehicle was not injured and remained on the scene. The investigation remains ongoing.
