NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – Multiple drivers struck and killed a man after he walked onto the Bruckner Expressway in the Bronx on Monday night, police said.

The man, who hasn't been identified, somehow entered the roadway near Stratford Avenue in Soundview and was run over by multiple vehicles shortly after 9 p.m.

NYPD officers responding to a 911 call found the man unresponsive in what police described as a very gruesome scene, with his remains along the roadway. EMS pronounced him dead.

The NYPD's highway squad is investigating how he accessed the expressway, as it's not easy to enter on foot.

The drivers who hit him stayed at the scene, police said, and no arrests had been reported as of Tuesday.
