NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Multiple people were sent to the hospital with minor injuries on Tuesday afternoon after a U-Haul van lost control in Midtown and collided into several other vehicles and structures, police said.

It happened just after 3 p.m. at the intersection of 57th Street and Madison Avenue.

The 86-year-old driver was operating a U-Haul minivan when he hit a taxi halted at a stop sign mid-block, officials said.

He then revered and crashed into a Toyota sedan, occupied by a driver and passenger.

Police said that the driver then drove onto the sidewalk and hit several structures, including mailboxes, a LinkNYC kiosk and an MTA bus sign.

The bus sign fell on a 33-year-old woman, who was taken to the hospital with the driver and 51-year-old cabbie. Everyone was listed in stable condition, police said.

It is not clear why the van lost control.

An investigation is ongoing.
