NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — At least two people were injured by a small explosion at an apartment building in Brooklyn on Friday afternoon, according to the FDNY.

It happened at 514 Rockaway Parkway, near Church Avenue in East Flatbush, at about 12:40 p.m., fire officials said. Firefighters responded to reports of a small explosion and smoke in the basement.

Two people were transported to an area hospital in unknown condition, the FDNY said.

The explosion comes less than 24 hours after a natural gas leak at an East Flatbush home less than two miles away caused an explosion that injured four people. Two of those injured had to be rushed to a Staten Island burn unit, and multiple families were displaced.

The fire marshal will determine the cause of Friday’s explosion.
