NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A newborn was found dead in a courtyard outside a Bronx apartment building on Wednesday, and police are investigating.
Officers responded to 1150 St. Lawrence Ave. in Soundview at about 11:15 a.m. after the baby was discovered by a building worker.
The infant was unconscious and unresponsive, police said. Sources told 1010 WINS that the umbilical cord was still attached.
EMS pronounced the newborn dead at the scene, and the medical examiner will determine the cause of death.
Police are withholding the identity pending proper family notification.
There have been no arrests and the investigation is ongoing.
