NJ man, 72, gets 40-year sentence for fatally shooting ex-girlfriend

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (1010 WINS) — A 72-year-old Atlantic City man was sentenced to 40 years in prison on Friday for fatally shooting his ex-girlfriend with a rifle, according to the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office.

Maximo Santiago shot Market Thorpe, 32, with a rifle on Sept. 12, 2020 during an argument.

A jury convicted him of murder and weapons charges on March 10.

In 1975, he was convicted of sexually assaulting a woman.
