NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — David Carr, New York City councilmember who represents Staten Island, joined On the Record with Steve Scott to discuss the borough’s growing turkey population, the problems they bring and potential solutions.
The amount of turkeys on Staten Island is unknown, and that’s part of the problem.
“What we do know is that in the last several years it has exploded, and what used to be a problem that was confined to maybe the east shore of our borough, has now become a borough-wide problem,” Carr said.
Carr broke down how the fowl disrupt life on Staten Island, failed former attempts to manage the turkeys and his ideas on how officials should spearhead population management.
