NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Severe winds will batter New York City Saturday evening into Sunday, forecasters predict.
Wind speeds up to 60 mph could be accompanied by thunder storms and even tornadoes as the bad weather sweeps up the East Coast.
Strong winds will be much closer to ground level than normal, posing a greater risk of downing trees and powerlines.
Airports will likely ground flights until winds die down.
Sunday will see highs of 52 with lows around 38. The weather should clear up by Monday, which will be mostly sunny with highs in the low 50s.
