NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – All NYPD officers continue to report for work in uniform Wednesday as the city remains in a "heightened threat environment" over the ongoing Israel-Hamas war.

"The NYPD is doing everything we can do to forestall future violence in our city," the department said in a statement. "However, we know the ongoing events overseas may resonate with individuals domestically and that is hard to anticipate."

As tensions remain high at home and abroad over the Mideast conflict, the NYPD said it's continuing its citywide "all-out deployment." Additionally, all in-service training has been postponed until further notice.

The deployment includes the Strategic Response Group protecting specific locations with long guns.

While Hezbollah—a U.S.-designated terrorist group—called for a "day of unprecedented anger" against Israel on Wednesday, the NYPD is operating as it has been since Hamas' terrorist attack on Israel on Oct. 7.

"Do we think that this additional statement makes us more vulnerable to an attack or anything like that? No, but we're operating in a heightened threat environment," Deputy Commissioner Tarik Sheppard told 1010 WINS.

"We're treating this announcement the same as we did last week," Sheppard said, referring to Hamas' call for a "day of rage" last Friday, when protesters took to the streets in New York and other cities.

Officials continue to say there is no specific, credible threat to the city.
