Joshua Rodriguez, or "Suave," shot Jaquan Millien and his son inside the Webster Houses in Claremont Village on Oct. 23, 2018, according to prosecutors.

His son survived. However, Millien was shot once in the chest and later died at Bronx Lebanon Hospital, the New York Daily News reports.

Sources told the outlet that the "rivalry" began after Rodriguez was released from prison and sought to take over Millien's pot-dealing business.

"Rodriguez allegedly murdered Jaquan Millien with his five-year-old son at his side," said U.S. Attorney Damian Williams. "His callous actions not only took Millien’s life, but also put Millien’s son's life in jeopardy too when he shot him during the murder."

The department said he was arrested on Thursday and charged with conspiracy to distribute marijuana, possession with intent to distribute marijuana and using a firearm to commit murder during a drug-trafficking crime, which maximum sentence of death or life in prison.
