NYC Restaurant Week expanded to 5 'amazing' weeks: de Blasio

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- New York City's Restaurant Week is returning for an extended five weeks in August and aims to help restaurants struggling because of the COVID-19 pandemic recover, Mayor Bill de Blasio announced on Monday.

Diners will be able to enjoy "great discounts" and "great specials" on meals at over 500 restaurants across all boroughs for five weeks this summer, as part of the city's newly extended tourism and hospitality industry promotion, the mayor added.

“This is going to be amazing,” de Blasio said. “Think about restaurants you’ve always wanted to go to. Here’s the opportunity to experience them, and it’s a wonderful, super Restaurant Week that’s going to be really inviting again for New Yorkers and a special opportunity to come out and celebrate for folks who are not from around here."

Restaurant Week is set to kick off on Monday, July 19, and will run through Aug. 22, but reservations can be made starting now.
